Vis­ceral sur­gery

Visceral surgery involves the surgical treatment of the internal organs of the human body. This includes the entire digestive tract - from the oesophagus, stomach, small and large intestine to the rectum and anus. Surgery of the liver, bile ducts, pancreas and spleen is also part of this speciality. Visceral surgery also includes endocrine organs such as the thyroid gland, parathyroid gland and adrenal glands. The spectrum is rounded off by surgical treatment of the diaphragm and abdominal wall.
