How does admission to the Claraspital work?

Note on admission on the day of surgery

  • If you are going to have an operation and are coming in directly on the day of the operation, you must be sober (no breakfast).
  • Make sure you have all the necessary documents, such as your health insurance card, ID card, medication list and medical reports.

Bring your own medication

Bring all medication, the medication card and, if available, allergy, endocarditis or pacemaker passports with you when you go into hospital. Medication for blood thinning (e.g. Marcoumar®, Plavix®, aspirin-containing medication) is particularly important.

During your stay, the nursing staff will give you the medication prescribed by your doctor. If you are already taking medication at home, please bring it to the hospital in its original packaging and inform the doctor.

In Switzerland, your basic health insurance already provides you with good care in the event of illness. But sometimes you may want a little more - such as the comfort of a single room in a private ward or treatment by a doctor of your choice. With us, you don't need any additional insurance for this: you have the flexibility to have your inpatient hospital treatment in a higher class.
