The linear accelerators at the Claraspital are equipped with an additional X-ray tube and special detectors that allow digital images of the therapy beam or a CT (cone beam CT) of the body region to be irradiated to be taken directly before irradiation.
The advantage here is that this image information can be compared with reference images that were taken during radiotherapy planning. In the event of deviations, the patient can be moved directly to the optimised radiotherapy position via remote control of the radiotherapy table. This image-guided radiotherapy can further improve the accuracy of the radiotherapy.
